The OSU Foundation recently issued a press release to recognize a $1.7 commitment made by Patrick and Vicki Stone to Oregon State University. Buried in the press release was this statement:
OSU and the foundation will officially launch the university’s first-ever, campus-wide campaign on Oct. 26. Guided by OSU's strategic plan, The Campaign for OSU aims to raise private funds to support the university’s education and research to benefit students, Oregon and the world.
It will be interesting how much attention this gets before the campaign officially goes public. A Google search for The Campaign for OSU currently turns up a handful of references: this press release, an event listing at osualum.com, and several brief articles at bizjournals.com like this one.
If you are curious, here is how OSU is being positioned in the "about" copy that is currently running at the end of OSU Foundation press releases (again, from the published press release above):
About Oregon State University: OSU is one of only two U.S. universities designated a land grant, sea grant, space grant and sun grant institution. OSU is also Oregon’s largest public research university, garnering more than 60 percent of the total federal and private research funding in the Oregon University System. Its more than 19,000 students come from all 50 states and more than 80 countries. OSU programs touch every county within Oregon, and its faculty teach and conduct research on issues of national and global importance.
This is the basic recipe for the famous Lebanese "Rice with meat". It's used as Ouzeh filling– stuffed puff pastry balls—or as even as Turkey stuffing. Or it can be eaten with a side of salad, preferably Fattoush (I'll post my version of Fattoush soon), or yogurt. It's one of my son's favorite dishes so we make it all the time. It's also become a Thanksgiving fixture! It tastes great with gravy and Turkey meat. You can even cook it with Turkey stock if you have some. If you have time, cook some beef in your slowcooker with the same spices and some beef stock and serve it on top of the rice.
