In the fall of 1995, the Oregon State University Honors College opened its doors to its first class of students. Two members of that inaugural class -- sensing that the fledgling UHC community could benefit from have a forum to call its own -- co-founded a student newsletter then known as The Ecclesia. The first issue was modest (only one page front and back -- to save on publishing costs!), but it soon begat a second issue (with four pages). And then a third.
As the UHC community continued to grow, so did the UHC student newspaper, later renamed The Chronicle. By 1998, The Chronicle was awarded first place for outstanding student publication by the National Collegiate Scholars, a feat the news magazine achieved again in 2004. Today, it's hard to imagine the UHC without its student news magazine.
It is with this background in mind that I am launching this new blog. The goal is to provide a place for alumni and friends of the Oregon State University Honors College to connect, re-connect and stay connected to one program that many of us hold dear. Would you like to join us?
